The island of Pag, one of the longest islands in Croatia, is a biking destination perfect for all nature lovers with
its beautiful scenery, more than 115 km of trails that have been woven into the entire landscape of the island
and large variety of routes for all ages and fitness levels. Depending on your preferences, select one of 14 well marked biking trails to discover the wonders Pag from its sparkling sea shores to fragrant lavender fields and olive groves in the interior. Try the route Vodice – Škunca, Bird Route to the ornithological reserve or the Salty Route taking you to the famous salt pans. For a complete biking and gastronomic experience of the island, be sure to try the Wine Route passing by wine cellars and idyllic island taverns.

Vodice (Pag beach) - Sv. Jerolim - Gajac - Škunca (Novalja) Route

This route starts on the town beach of Pag taking in some of the island's wonderful beaches and coves. Halfway along the route you'll come across a source of clear, drinkable Velebit water and the naturist beach of St. Duh. Continuing further through the scenic countryside, take a rest in the shade of pines by the chapel of St. Jerolim, before finishing the trail in Novalja.

Salty Route, Stari grad - Gorica

This route will take you to the old part of the town of Pag and further on to the Pag saltpans. If you'd like to visit the saltpans you'll need to register at the town of Pag’s tourist board several days beforehand. After looking around the salt pans, the route will lead you through the reeds to Gorica.

Stari grad [old town] – Košljun Route

Part of this route takes you on the same route as the 'Salty route', right up to the turning at Košljun. This is a route for experienced cyclists only as the last three kilometres involve a scenic but tricky descent that leads all the way to the town of Pag itself.

Bird route - Veliko blato

Follow the 'Salty route' from Pag (right turn at its exit) and after four kilometres turn off for this new route. This is an exceptional bike trail for all cycling abilities along a narrow and quiet, tarmac road.. After 2.9 km you'll arrive at an ornithological reserve. The route ends after 5.5 km in the village of Vlašići famed for its healing mud and wonderful beach. Just past Vlašići a right turn leads you to Smokvica where you can join the Smokvica route.

Smokvica route

The Smokvica route requires a high level of fitness so is only recommended for experienced cyclists. Bike along a narrow road from Vlašić to Smokvica, past meadows and secluded sandy beaches to the start of one of the most difficult cycling routes on the island of Pag. Its difficulty not only lies in its length but also because of its uneven terrain.

Prutna route

This cycling trail leads you through a rocky terrain to the top of the small Prutna peninsula, from where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Pag Bridge. Bear in mind there are no refreshment points along the Prutna route so make sure you take plenty of bottled water.

Cape Dubrovnik Route

The first part of the Cape Dubrovnik trail travels through a lush forest close to the coastline, where you'll find a pretty beach. . The route then gently descends on a path covered by sharp rocks so we recommend you take extra caution here. At the top of the route you'll be rewarded with a stunning panoramic view over Košljun Bay. Carry on and you'll bike through a pretty pastoral landscape featuring a cluster of shepherds houses and sheep pens.

Šimuni – Girenica Bay Route

At the beginning of this trail look out for the lovely beach near the campsite in the village of Šimuni. From here a narrow, asphalt route crosses the main Kolan-Mandre road. After this crossroads you can choose between two cycling routes to Girenica Bay; one trail leads directly to the cove, the other heads first in the direction of Mandre. When you arrive at the bay of Girenica, during high season you can celebrate your cycling adventure with delicious Pag specialities at a choice of restaurants.

Kolan Route

The Kolan route is a short but interesting cycling trail through a gully and high reeds. However, the trail after the turning towards the village of Mandre becomes tricky is only recommended for very experienced cyclists. The route end in the village of Kolan where you can try local Pag delicacies, such as Pag cheese, curd and Prošek.

Quarry Route

This 10.5 kilometre route starts with a difficult ascent from Stara Novalja then continues on a tarmac road where, at the first diverging road, you can take a quick detour to a beautiful beach. There are a number of options if you want to continue cycling after the end of the 10.5 km route. If you take the Novalja - Žigljen road towards Žigljen and turn left for Žigljen, after two kilometres you'll find a signpost for the UFO park. You can continue further down the route towards the village of Caska and the famous Zrće beach.

Novaljsko polje Route

The Novaljsko Polje route is an ideal bike trail for the whole family and for those who love cycling in untouched natural surroundings and takes in a series of small bridges that dot the beautiful Pag countryside. Experienced cyclists can include this trail on the way to the wine route, or carry on cycling all the way to Caska.

Wine Route

Due to its harsh incline, the wine route on the island of Pag demands a very good level of fitness. At the end of this cycling trail, you can enjoy a spectacular view over the secluded village of Novaljsko polje and try some of the many delicacies and wines from the island of Pag in the wine cellar.

Caska - Metajna – Ručica Canyon Route

This spectacular cycling trail takes in the magnificent island countryside and offers a wonderful view of the bay of Pag. You can find refreshments in the villages of Kustići and Zubovići, and at any point along the route you can easily reach the sea for a re-energising swim off one of the island's many beaches. In the village of Metajna try the water from Velebit or the tasty fried sprats. Two km cycling from Metajna you'll reach the cove of Ručica with its wonderful beach and Kanjon grill bar and restaurant.

Novalja – Lun Route

This delightful route from Novalja to Lun will prove a big hit with all nature lovers and cycling enthusiasts. Along the trail make sure you turn off for a detour to the beautiful pebble beach in the villages of Jakišnica and Potočnica. The final part of this cycling route will take you through olive groves containing trees more than a thousand years old. Take a break in Lun and try Pag specialities at the village restaurant or inn.
