Island of Pag Tourism Info
Although only the fifth largest of all Croatia’s many islands, Island of Pag tourism has blossomed in recent years thanks to its unique blend of old, new and plain surreal! Lined with peaceful inlets, pretty coves and spectacular beaches, the island is an ideal destination for families and couples. Quaint towns, villages and resorts pepper the stunning and dramatic lunar landscape, retaining traditional characteristics but providing plentiful amenities and tourist facilities such as modern hotels and a choice of recreational activities. Crystal clear waters provide excellent diving and snorkelling opportunities, while several bike trails criss-cross an unspoilt terrain perfumed with immortelle and sage.
The island of Pag also has a dedicated following of young partygoers flocking to places like Zrće beach, just a few kilometres from Novalja, fast becoming known as one of Central Europe’s hottest club scenes. In contrast to catering for 21st century demands, sheep farming and salt production are still the mainstays of Pag’s economy. Both are intrinsic to four products that the island is famed for, namely cheese, lamb, lace and salt. No visit to the Island of Pag would be complete without sampling salty Paški sir cheese drizzled with olive oil, or succulent Paški lamb, one of Croatia’s most prized gastronomy treasures. In the interior you’ll discover Pag’s salt pans still producing the island’s much-fought-after natural asset and in the town of Pag black-dressed ladies quietly ply their exquisite lace handiwork, a craft passed down through the centuries.
For quiet contemplation or lively nightlife, family fun or historical discoveries, cultural insights or active pursuits - there’s nowhere quite like the Island of Pag. Find out more info about the Island of Pag in Croatia in the following sections.
