Poreč is a town of culture, tourism, sport and entertainment and one thing is for certain – you cannot be bored here.

In high season, the old town centre is full of the sounds of jazz, classical music, and the acoustic guitars of street performers. Concerts are held under the clear sky in the Lapidarium, and Euphrasius’ Basilica... you can feel the pure emotion of the music here.
The beaches in Poreč are well looked after and many of them have a Blue Flag. Since all our buildings are located very close to the sea, you can totally relax in the magic of summer.
Poreč is a favourite place for sports players and recreationalists because of its exceptional sporting facilities. All sporting souls can find their refuge here amongst the classical and adrenalin sports, bicycle paths, water sports, diving and other activities.
In terms of transport, Poreč is very well connected, and you can get all the information and maps you need at a number of places, where we especially highlight the town centre and the Poreč Tourist Association info point.
There are places within easy reach of the town that open their doors to those who want some night life and fun, where they can dance until the early hours of the morning. As well, there are cafés, lounge bars, and lots of terraces where you can relax with a drink, a cocktail or some Istrian wine.

	Plaža Oliva Enjoy yourself on the island of Sveti Nikola at the oldest bathing area in Poreč, and carrying the Blue Flag. This peaceful island is situated opposite Poreč, just a five-minute boat ride away. The island also has two Valamar hotels -- the Fortuna Island Hotel and the Isabella Castle. Choose a beach built in the shape of a round pool or a gravel beach carrying the Blue Flag, and give yourself over to the charms of summer or relax with the fragrance of pine forests right next to the sea.
	Plaža Borik The Borik beach, which is reached by a walkway through a park of pine trees, is situated just below the Hotels Pical and Zagreb. Swim and sunbathe on a gravel beach with the Blue Flag and enjoy the many extra attractions for all ages. Enjoy the beautiful view of Poreč and take the walkway along to the sea to its historic center.
	Plaža Brulo Choose a concrete, rock or gravel beach surrounded by a forest of pines, oak, and holly oak only about 200 meters from the hotels Valamar Diamant, Valamar Crystal and the Valamar Rubin. 	Poreč mosaic Poreč is nicknamed "the city of mosaics" because of the wealth of the mosaics that have been uncovered and are protected here, some of which date from the 4th century. The most well-known mosaics are on the walls of the Euphrasius Basilica from the 6th century. Take home an original souvenir from Poreč, a replica of one of the Poreč mosaics.
	Bukaleta A bukaleta is an earthenware jug, most often painted with motifs of grapes and grape leaves and inscribed with sayings about wine. When company gathers, Istrians most happily drink wine from a bukaleta. In addition, they also use it to drink Istrian soup, mildly warmed red wine, usually teran or borgonja, to which a slice of freshly baked bread, a few drops of olive oil, a little sugar, and ground pepper is added.
	Kažun All along the fields of Istria, especially in its southern part, you can see Istrian kažuni, which are small field shelters built of stone without any mortar. The kažun once served as a shelter and a place for storing tools and for watching over the fields and the vines just before the harvest, when the crop became the target of thieves. 	Truffles Truffles are a rare and extremely valuable mushroom that you can enjoy year-round in Istria. This famous aphrodisiac with an intense, one-of-a-kind fragrance has been the unquestioned king of the culinary art from the tables of the ancient Romans until today. Although truffles can be enjoyed in many Istrian restaurants in combination with a variety of dishes and side dishes, true gastronomes say that the truffle gives its maximum only when it plays the main role on the plate.
	Lavander Lavander is a plant known for its medicinal characteristics. It adorns many parts of Istria with its color and fragrance. Even the ancient Romans were accustomed to adding lavander to their baths, while the ancient Greeks most frequently used it for medicinal purposes. Take with you essential oil of lavander or a small, fragrant bag of dried lavander that will remind you of your vacation in Istria.
	Wine If you travel on wine roads of Istria, you will get to know the area in a completely new way. Try the indigenous Istrian wine varieties rubin, red teran and yellow-gold malvazija. Of course, you can also try the other world-renowned wine varieties that thrive in Istria like muškat, pinot, refoška, cabernet sauvignon, and merlot, and make a loved one happy with a bottle of wine from one of the famous Istrian vineyards.

	Istrian prosciuotto Prosciuotto is a dried meat made from the ham of a pig that is salted, seasoned and then smoked over a hearth or in a barrel. Istrian prosciuotto is aromatic and is unique in the way that it is prepared and cut. It is served in very thin slices as an appetizer, usually with sheep's cheese, olives, homemade smoked sausage and ombolo, or as a main dish in a sauce with past and in fritaja and manestra.
	Fuži with truffles Fuži is typical Istrian pasta that is prepared from homemade dough. It is usually served with a sauce of fresh truffles and prosciuotto. Every Istrian restaurateur will confirm that the truffle reaches its greatest expression in this combination. Therefore, we recommend that you try this traditional Istrian dish that is a mixture of simplicity and outstanding gastronomy.
	Savory stew of scampi You cannot leave Istria without tasting this outstanding seafood specialty. Scampi in a stew is a light dish that will reveal all of the aromas of the Adriatic scampi, while the tomato sauce is so tasty that you will eat every last bit of it from the plate.
	Istrian manestra Revive yourself with Istrian manestra (a thick soup) that is one of the most well-known specialties of Istrian cuisine. The basic ingredient of manestra is a combination of three types of vegetables: potato, beans and the third vegetable for which manestra is named (corn, cabbage, fennel).
	Cukeraničići Sweeten yourself with cukeraničići, traditional Istrian pastries that are offered in almost all Istrian cafes after a meal. If you combine cukeraničići with muškat, a wine with an expressive fragrance and a semi-sweet bouquet, your experience will be complete.
