Rabac bicycling
Often called the ‘Pearl of Kvarner’, this famous tourist centre on the east coast of Istria has grown from a small fishing village into what is deservedly one of Croatia’s favourite holiday destinations. Kilometres of pristine Blue Flag beaches lace the coast, lapped by the turquoise waters of the Adriatic and fringed by the verdant green of verdant pine forests. Medieval towns and villages like Labin and Paz dot the green hills with ochre and white, centuries of folklore and history adding intrigue and mystery to the culture of this enchanting land. Thousands of tourists now flock to Rabac to revel in the healthy Mediterranean climate, absorb the culture of Croatia and discover the many hidden coves and beaches. Many also come to take advantage of the ample recreational opportunities such as diving, sailing and cycling. Dozens of trails and paths span this corner of Istria, from organized historical routes to country paths following the gentle curves of Kvarner Bay. Cycling routes such as the Teran Trail pass quaint waterfront eateries and taverns before cutting inland towards the baroque palaces of old Labin, the intriguing ‘sculpture park’ of Dubrova and through the vineyards of Nedešćina. For an unforgettable eyeful of the beauty of Rabac, follow The Trail of Lucy With Crystal-Clear Eyes, a bike journey tracking the Venetian nobles and artists of medieval villages and onwards to the miraculous healing waters of St. Lucia and spectacular views from Skitača across the sea to Italy.
