Guests from the EU can enter Croatia without any problems and return to their countries. The epidemiological situation in the Adriatic is under control with less active cases than in other tourist destinations in the Mediterranean.

Although nearly 300.000 guests have stayed in Valamar since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been no registered cases of virus transmission at our properties, which proves the quality and consistent implementation of our V Health & Safety program.

10% solidarity discount for mandatory testing
The Republic of Croatia has enforced a new measure on November 30, 2020 by which all citizens of Croatia, EU member states and third countries must provide a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours upon entering Croatia, or must be tested upon entering and remain in self-isolation until they receive their negative results.

In these challenging times, as a token of solidarity concerning the new measure, Valamar will give an additional 10% discount to guest who booked their stay directly with Valamar which will be applied at the reception desk. The discount is valid while the measure is in force.

Rules at the border when entering Croatia

For easier and faster border crossing, we recommend submitting your data in advance via the website entercroatia.mup.hr. In this way you can avoid additional delays at the border crossing as the border police will have your data in the system. At the road border crossings Bregana, Macelj, Rupa and Plovanija there are special lanes for guests who have filled in and submitted the Enter Croatia form before arrival.

Passengers who have registered on entercroatia.mup.hr website will receive on their email address a confirmation of receipt and all the necessary information related to the instructions and recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

Passengers who do not submit their data in advance via this application will be able to do so at the border crossing when entering the Republic of Croatia.

On the 'Re-open EU' European Commission website you can check, in real time, information on travel within the European Union, the situation at the borders, and all available transport and tourism services in EU member states.

For all existing and new reservations for the year 2020, we have provided the Valamar Holiday Voucher, which offers full flexibility to choose and change the dates of your holiday in 2020 or 2021, as well as other benefits during your stay.

Reservations made before 14.04.2020:

  • You can transfer the number of days from your existing 2020 reservation to any other available date in 2020 (we waived the higher season price surcharge).
    You are eligible to an added complimentary reservation value or discount (depending on reservation rate type).
  • If you are not going to be able to fulfil your reservation in 2020 you can transfer it to 2021 with added complimentary reservation value or discount (depending on reservation rate type), price according to travel date price seasons.
  • You can change the dates of your stay up to 4 days before your arrival.

6. What coronavirus protection measures have you taken in your hotels and campsites?

We always take special care of hygiene and cleanliness in our hotels and campsites. At the first sign of the epidemic in neighbouring countries, we have introduced a series of disease prevention procedures, making sure to maintain a high level of comfort and quality of service. Since then, we have developed a system to ensure the safety of our guests and employees in accordance with the latest hygiene and cleanliness guidelines.

The safety system for guests and employees includes, among other things:

  • continuous education of our employees in order to inform them about potential dangers and to carry out appropriate preventive procedures
  • sanitation standard operating procedures
  • availability of surface and hand disinfectants, both to staff and guests
  • additional safety measures in the preparation and serving of food, as well as cleaning and disinfection of accommodation units

As soon as we reopen our hotels and campsites, we will continue to apply these measures, adapting them to the instructions of the competent authorities, always taking into account the safety of our guests and employees.

9. Will you supply enough disinfectants in rooms and common areas?

We will provide guests and employees with all the necessary disinfectants in line with the prescribed legal measures to prevent the spread of the virus. We have also implemented the 100% Privacy/No entry option as part of our V-Health& Safety programme, which means that Valamar employees will enter an accommodation unit only on the guest’s request and with the necessary protective equipment.

We use communication tools and messages in our facilities to provide information and encourage responsible behaviour and social distancing. Furthermore, this year we have reduced the maximum capacity of all our accommodation facilities by 20% and have also lowered the capacities of our restaurants and bars in order to ensure a safe distance between tables/chairs in line with the recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health. 11. Do you have an emergency medical service in case of coronavirus symptoms?

Valamar has improved its existing high hygiene and safety standards for guests in accordance with the recommendations of international and European health organisations and has implemented its V-Health & Safety programme, which includes a V Health&Safety manager who will provide healthcare and all necessary coordination if required and who is available to guests 24/7 in all Valamar facilities. 12. What can we expect on your beaches?

We have reduced the capacity of sun loungers on all Valamar beaches to offer more space for our guests. 13. What options do we have for checking in and checking out?

We have simplified our check-in procedure so you can check in online or use our safe protocols at the reception. You can also check in via our MyValamar mobile app, our website www.valamar.com, or at our interactive kiosk (available in some accommodation facilities) upon arrival. If would prefer to check in and out without using technology, we offer the regular procedure with precautions such as a minimum distance between guests.

14. Will we be able to move freely in town while keeping social distance?

Both locals and guests can move freely in town. However, the recommendation on the importance of social distancing for the common good is still in force.

15. Will wearing face masks be mandatory in certain parts of the campsite?

Current regulations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health do not require the wearing of masks. The obligation to wear masks for guests is only when staying in stores. 16. How will children’s entertainment programmes and children’s pools be organised?

Valamar follows the recommendations of international, European and national health organisations concerning kindergartens and applies them to all Maro amenities for children while implementing the highest hygiene standards. We use communication tools and messages in our facilities to provide information and encourage responsible behaviour and social distancing. Furthermore, we have adapted the capacities of the restaurant, spa zone, fitness centre and Maro Club and introduced a number of other health and safety measures. 10. Do you have an emergency medical service in case of coronavirus symptoms?

Valamar has improved its existing high hygiene and safety standards for guests in accordance with the recommendations of international and European health organisations and has implemented its V-Health & Safety programme, which includes a V Health&Safety manager who will provide healthcare and all necessary coordination if required and who is available to guests 24/7 in all Valamar facilities. 11. What options do we have for checking in and checking out?

We have simplified our check-in procedure so you can check in online or use our safe protocols at the reception. You can also check in via our MyValamar mobile app, our website www.valamar.com. If would prefer to check in and out without using technology, we offer the regular procedure with precautions such as a minimum distance between guests.

12. Will we be able to move freely at the ski area keeping a safe distance?

On the ski slopes you can move freely with the recommendation to keep a distance of 1 m from people who do not belong to your group.

13. Is mask-wearing on the ski slopes mandatory?

Each guest receives a free multifunctional bandana with their ski pass to use as a face mask. According to the prescribed coronavirus protection measures at ski resorts in Austria, a face mask is not required on ski slopes but is mandatory in all public indoor areas, including cable cars, shops and restaurants (unless you are sitting at your table). Children under the age of 7 are not required to wear masks.

14. What can be used as a face mask to protect the nose and mouth?

In addition to the classic face mask, it is allowed to use multi-purpose fabrics that completely cover the mouth and nose such as buffs, bandanas, ski masks, etc. Each guest receives a free multifunctional bandana with their ski pass to use as a face mask.

15. How are ski/snowboard schools in Obertauern organised?

The ski and snowboard schools in Obertauern have adapted to the new situation: all gatherings and activities within the school take place outdoors, and the processes are simplified. Each group is limited to 10 participants.

16. Will there be après-ski in Obertauern?

The bars, ski huts and restaurants in Obertauern will be open, but without the usual après-ski activities. At the end of an active day, you can always enjoy a drink in the hotel’s wine bar or in one of the local huts and restaurants.

17. What measures do you take in the hotel restaurant and how are breakfast and dinner organised?

In the hotel restaurant you can enjoy an extended breakfast until 11:00, and dinner is served at two different times. The Valamar Obertauern Hotel has implemented the V Health & Safety programme, which complies with safety standards in Austria and the recommendations of international health organisations related to Covid-19.

The V Health&Safety Food programme guarantees the highest standards of hygiene and a food safety management system. We have prepared instructions and quality communication for guests in all key areas in the hotel.
