Our winter offer has ended, but seasonal escapes are always part of Valamar’s offer.
Even when the temperatures drop, the Adriatic remains a stunning backdrop. Winter holidays in Croatia invite a different kind of traveller: those who appreciate empty streets, crisp sea air and the authentic feel of coastal life. It is the perfect season for those looking to simply disconnect and recharge.
Absolutely. Whether you are looking for festive fun during Advent or New Years Eve or simply want to escape the noise later in the season, winter offers a unique charm.
The streets are beautifully decorated, the food is comforting, and the crowds are gone, leaving you with plenty of space to enjoy it all. It is the perfect mix of coastal calm and winter warmth.
Milder than you think. On the coast, winter is generally mild with temperatures averaging 10°C. You will see plenty of winter sun, but the famous north wind (Bura) can make it feel brisk, perfect for wrapping up in a scarf for a seaside walk.
If you visit inland, expect a true winter. Temperatures hover around 0°C and snow is common, turning places like Plitvice Lakes into a frozen fairyland.
For a milder, relaxing escape, stick to the Adriatic coast. For a relaxing escape, look to Istria and the islands of Krk and Rab. These regions offer a peaceful retreat where you can enjoy long seaside promenades, cycling trails and exceptional local food and wine without the summer rush. It is the perfect setting for wellness and recharging by the sea.
If you prefer culture and charm, Dubrovnik is unmissable. The winter sun is often mild, allowing you to explore the historic City Walls in comfort and solitude. Plus, during the holiday season, the Advent festivities transform these historic towns with twinkling lights and seasonal cheer, creating a truly magical atmosphere.
Focus on versatility. Winter on the coast is all about transition. You will want comfortable walking shoes for exploring the historic stone streets and a warm coat for the cooler evenings.
Don’t forget the essentials, even in winter, the Adriatic sun is bright, so sunglasses are a must. And definitely pack a swimsuit. While the sea might be too cool for a dip, our heated indoor pools and wellness centers are the highlight of the season.
