You may be familiar with the impressive panorama shots of a majestic mountain range surrounding a small high alpine town. OBERTAUERN [PLACESHOTEL] is right in the middle of that town. It’s really the best starting point to discover all the hidden spots and secrets of alpine culture with the best local guides you could wish for our [PLACESPEOPLE].

Get yourself some traditional Austrian treats: Kaiserschmarrn, Germknödel and Salzburger Nockerl are the top choices.
Check out the Johanneswasserfall. The 60 meter high waterfall is a sight to behold all year round, but in winter it’s frozen and even more impressive.
Spend some time Hütten-Hoping: High up in the Alps, mountain huts are quite an experience. Some are full-blown restaurants, while others have remained a bit more rustic; there really is something for everyone.
When the weather is good, try the steepest and most challenging slope in all of Obertauern: Gamsleiten 2.
Collect the Super 7. Every one of the seven summits in Obertauern has its own super-challenging piste attached to it. Doing them all is quite the achievement.
